An early example of a German settler's cottage, dating perhaps from the later 1850s, and of distinctive form and construction. The attic rooms are reached by a steep stair rising from within a cupboard in the skillion kitchen. The floor joists and exterior wall studs rest directly on a rubble plinth, with no horizontal timber plate, and the whole of the framing is packed with pug.
